Janna Audey
Janna Audey has been singing professionally
for 18 years. Spanning the genres of theater to rock, she has discovered
her niche as a singer/songwriter, emulating a contemporary style
similar to Jewel and Natalie Merchant. Her powerful
voice weaves
in and out of her defining lyrics and simple guitar playing, taking
the listener to distant, yet familiar, places. Listening to Janna
perform is an experience, such an experience that one of her fans
coined it as "musical yoga".
Janna has been performing at various coffee houses in Northern Virginia
and Washington, DC since 1998. She also performs at local farmers
markets during the summer, as well as private receptions throughout
the year.
In 1995, while performing with her band "Easy Access",
Janna had the privilege of singing for President and First Lady
Hillary Clinton in Georgetown. A memory captured on film, thankfully!
Janna also has recorded back-up vocals for Kowtow Popof,
a critically-acclaimed Maryland musician. Her vocals can be heard
on tracks "Bottom of the Sea" and "Satellite
of Love".
Her debut CD, "Is It Real", is being carried
by Olsson's Books & Records in Arlington and Old Town, Alexandria,
Virginia. She is in the process of recording her follow-up CD, which
is due for completion Spring 2003.
